Tiz the Law Breezes for 2020 Debut in Feb. 1 G3 Holy Bull

Reluctant Bride a Willing Debut Winner for Biancone

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Sackatoga Stable’s Tiz the Law breezed five furlongs Sunday at Gulfstream Park in preparation for a planned start in the $350,000 Holy Bull (G3) Feb. 1.

Trained Barclay Tagg shipped the Grade 1 stakes-winning 3-year-old son of Constitution from Palm Meadows Training Center, Gulfstream’s satellite training center in Palm Beach County, for the workout, which was timed in 1:01.55.  New York-based jockey Manuel Franco came in for the breeze before returning to Aqueduct, where he rode the first-race winner.

“He got some distance under him and got a feel for the track, that’s all I wanted to do,” Tagg said. “He seemed to handle it all right.”

The breeze was his fourth since he finished third in the Nov. 30 Kentucky Jockey Club (G2).

“He does every right. He’s no problem at all to train,” said Tagg, who saddled Sackatoga Stable’s Funny Cide for victories in the 2003 Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness Stakes (G1).

Tiz the Law won his first two starts before finishing third in the Kentucky Jockey Club, which was run over a sloppy, sealed racetrack at Churchill Downs. He debuted at Saratoga Aug. 8 with a 4 ½-length romp before capturing the Oct. 5 Champagne (G1) at Belmont by four lengths.

Monday’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $4 Million

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $4 million for Monday’s special Martin Luther King Jr. Day program at Gulfstream Park.  (First-race post: 12:35 p.m.)

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 37th consecutive racing day of the 2019-2020 Championship Meet at Gulfstream Friday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $9,572.60.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Reluctant Bride a Willing Debut Winner for Biancone

Reluctant Bride, out of multiple Grade 1 stakes winner Sassy Image, scored an impressive debut victory in Race 1 of Sunday’s program at Gulfstream Park.

The 3-year-old daughter of Speightstown rallied from 10th in the five-furlong maiden special weight turf race for 3-year-old fillies under Luca Panici, surging from eighth in mid-stretch to score by a neck at 13-1 odds.

“I thought the race would be too short for her and she would finish running which we wanted her to do the first time,” said trainer Patrick Biancone, who owns the Kentucky-bred filly with D P Racing LLC. “Fortunately, they went fast enough early to slow down enough for her to win.”

Reluctant Bride ran five furlongs over a firm turf in 56.10 seconds.

Reluctant Bride was purchased at the Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale at Gulfstream in March for $235,000.

Sassy Image captured the Humana Distaff (G1) at Churchill Downs and the Princess Rooney (G1) at Calder Race Course and three other graded stakes during her career.

Note: Jockey Tyler Gaffalione, who was unseated from his mount, Ell M’a Souri, in Sunday’s 11th race, was taken to Aventura Hospital for further evaluating after reporting of headache.

Who’s Hot:  Edgard Zayas rode back-to-back winners, scoring aboard Chase Runner ($12.80) in Race 5 and Declarationwarrior ($12.60) in Race 6.

Apprentice Cristian Torres doubled aboard Gran Greyfrost ($3.60) in Race 3 and Cabre ($6.60) in Race 8.

Trainer Gustavo Delgado saddled back-to-back winners, scoring with Cabre and Tale of Success ($9.20) in Race 10.
